Trellis Yarn Necklace Instructions also know as a Crochet Bib Necklace.
Supplies:
Lion Brand's Trellis Yarn (Note: This yarn is no longer available, it has been discontinued by the manufacturer.)
I-9 crochet hook
Directions:
First measure out an arms length of yarn for the end. At that point start chain stitching 100 times. On the last chain stitch, pull the yarn all the way through and leave another arms length of yarn for the other end. This creates the longest strand. The next strand is made the same way, but this time only chain stitch 90 times. The next strand after that is made the same way, but only chain stitch 80 times. Continue on making 4 more strands, one where you chain stitch 70 times, then one where you chain stitch 60 times, then one where you chain stitch 50 times and finally one where you chain stitch 40 times. When you have all your strands finished, gather the left ends together where the chain stitch ends and tie a knot. Next, do this on the right side. Braid both sides separately and then tie them together with a knot. How far you braid and where you tie that knot will be determined by how low or high you want your necklace to hang. Leave the remaining yarn dangling down the back.
This necklace is made using a crochet stitch called the chain stitch (This is a very easy stitch. Start with a slip knot, then pull the yarn through the loop of the slip knot creating another loop. Then pull the yarn through this new loop creating another loop. Then pull the yarn through this loop creating another loop and so on...). You don't really need a crochet hook to do the chain stitch, but it does make it easier.
